Season 6, Podcast 109, Isaiah 50:1-11, “Let us Stand Together.”

The central focus of Isaiah is the Messiah. His purpose is to testify of the coming of Christ, that He is the only Savior and Redeemer. Isaiah’s mission began with a vision of Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 6:1-4

1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Isaiah clearly understood the mission of the Savior. He understood that Christ was ordained by the Father in the pre-existence to come to earth and save God’s children.

Isaiah 6:8

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Because Christ was chosen rather than Lucifer, Lucifer rebels against God and there was a war in heaven.

Revelation 12:7-9

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

In the war in heaven, those who chose to follow Christ prevailed.

Revelation 12:10-11

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

That war continues on earth today.

Revelation 12:12-13

12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

Isaiah witnessed the same thing that John the Revelator witnessed.

Isaiah 14:12-15

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Isaiah saw in vision every aspect of Christ’s life. In Isaiah 50, Isaiah is speaking for Christ. Christ is condemning Israel for leaving him.

Isaiah 50:1

1 Thus saith the Lord, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

Christ puts the responsibility of their apostasy squarely on their shoulders. He reminds Israel that he has power even over the elements of the earth. He reminds them that if he has power over the earth, he also has power to redeem them from their sins and to deliver them from their enemies.
