Season 6, Podcast 100, Isaiah 43:1-28, “Precious in My Sight.”

In verse 1 of Chapter 43, we learn the Savior’s role as The Redeemer. This chapter affirms that there is no other Savior but Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 43:1

But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

The above anticipates the coming of the Savior and Redeemer of the world during the meridian of time. It has always been Christ who has been with them. And Christ affirms that he will continue to be with them. In the following he is speaking of the time of restoration.

Isaiah 43:2

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

It was the Lord who brought them out of Egypt.

Isaiah 43:3

For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

It is Christ alone who ransoms us all from our sins if we call upon him. He is the only one worthy. In the words of John.

Revelation 5:1-6

And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

In the last day Christ shall gather Israel.

Isaiah 43:4-6

Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

Perhaps all Christians remember the beautiful image the Savior gave of gathering the Saints.

Matthew 23:37

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

But we must remember that everything is governed by the law of restoration spoken of previously. Everyone is precious in the sight of God; however, God cannot save anyone against their will. They must come willingly. God, who is our creator, restores good for good, just for just, righteous for righteous, mercy for mercy. But only those who show mercy receive mercy.
