Season 6, Podcast 76, Isaiah 23:1-18, “Burden of Tyre.”
Thus far Isaiah has listed the following states that shall be destroyed: Judah (The Southern Kingdom), Israel (the Northern Kingdom), Babylon, Assyria, Philistia (Philistines), Moab, Damascus (Syria), Ethiopia (Cush), Egypt, and Tyre. The theme is the same. They did not hearken to the Lord. History has shown that Isaiah’s prophecies were true. They are types and shadows of things to come in the latter days just before Christ appears again. Babylon emerged as the dominant symbol of the fall of the world. It is ironic, but Babylon is the only nation that is not promised redemption. When Babylon falls, the world Falls, Christ appears, and a perfect world order governed by Christ replaces earthly kingdoms. Christ rules 1000 years.
Revelation 18:2-3
And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
When Babylon, or the world, falls, Satan is bound for 1000 years.
Revelation 20:2
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Christ appears and reigns on earth during the Millennium. The saints reign with him.
Revelation 20:4-6
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Following the Millennium, Satan will be loosed a short while.
Revelation 20:7-8
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
When that brief season is over, Christ will come a third time. This time, however, to a new earth and a new heaven. The old earth will be destroyed by fire.
2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
The Holy City, New Jerusalem, will come down and celestialized earth will be the permanent home of God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ and all those who received the crown of life.
Revelation 21:1-3
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
As with John the Revelator, the above is the overriding theme in Isaiah. Think then of the “burden of Tyre” as the burden of the other kingdoms that fall because of wickedness.
