Season 6, Podcast 46, Isaiah 4:1-6, “Redemption.”
In our last episode, “The Law of Chastity,” the Lord condemns the daughters of Zion for pride and lasciviousness. In this episode, the Lord cleanses the daughters of Zion.
Isaiah 4:1
1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
That is the effect of protracted war. The young men have been decimated in battle. Left is the ratio of seven women to one man. Because they did not listen to the warning of Isaiah, all the calamities occurred that were prophesied. We need to always keep in mind that Isaiah is also speaking of our day. Tragedy has humbled them. They have repented of their sins and a new Millennial Day has dawned.
Isaiah 4:2
2 In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.
Isaiah often speaks of the Millennium. During the Millennial Day only the righteous shall survive.
Isaiah 4:3
3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem:
The Lord makes it very apparent in the scriptures that, although they must suffer because of the sins of others, he will spare the righteous. Isaiah tells us,
Isaiah 3:10
10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Earlier, Isaiah promised,
Isaiah 1:27
27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
The Lord reveals to David.
Psalm 5:12
12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
The Lord makes the following promise to the righteous.
Psalm 34:17
17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
The Lord does not make that promise to the wicked.
Isaiah 1:28
28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.
In the last days the Lord will cleanse the daughters of Zion.
Isaiah 4:4
4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.
We are reminded of the words of the Lord to Malachi.
Malachi 3:2-3
2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:
3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.
The tables turn. The Lord protects Zion in the Last Days.
Isaiah 4:5
5 And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.
The Jews would have understood that historical image, for its prototype is a sacred part of their history as they were led through the wilderness.
Exodus 13:21
21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
Isaiah continues.
