Season 6 Podcast 1, A New Voice of Freedom, Argument for the Existence of God, “The Origin of Law.”

Let me bring to the forefront of your mind the words of Stephen Hawking from his book, Grand Design. Mr. Hawking is perhaps the most respected spokesman of modern scientific theory:

“The beginning of the universe was governed by the laws of science and doesn’t need to be set in motion by some god.”

The question of where law comes from poses a grand dilemma.  Science must claim that conditions suddenly appeared and that laws miraculously sprang out of chaos and then in turn organized themselves into complete sets and in turn organized chaos according to a principle or set of principles, which contradicts the fact that the principle of causality also articulated by Professor Hawking does not allow for miracles.

Dealing with origins, evolutionists are faced with insurmountable obstacles and improbabilities: conditions must emerge; laws must be created; complete sets of laws must be organized; progression must be a one-way street; coincidence must always be positive; the language of life must be perfectly coordinated even without prior connections; there must be the perfect appearance of intelligent design; everything, even life, must be irreducible; everything must begin from nothing; temporal law must evolve; without intelligent design physical laws that have neither life nor consciousness must work together to create a perfect environment before biological life can be introduced; life must suddenly appear without explanation; all biological life, untold millions of species must work together creating a perfect balance between life and death; everything must operate under a single law or set of laws  physical laws and biological laws must work together in perfect harmony; the solar system must fall perfectly into place; everything must be fine-tuned, without any flaws.  The list, of course, can continue indefinitely.  It all must be done by accident and held together by luck.

To have something come from nothing would be a miracle greater than any miracle recorded in the Bible.  The alternative would be for science to attribute law to spontaneous creation, serendipity, luck, chance, etc.  The contradiction that cannot be overlooked is that you have chaos creating laws and then organizing those laws into complete sets according to the rules of classification and division and those laws in turn organizing chaos.  That makes chaos a very strange god performing a very neat trick.  You have unconsciousness creating consciousness creating intelligence creating laws to create its own consciousness so that it can be conscious of itself organizing laws that explain its consciousness.  Does anyone else have a problem with that?

I don’t know where else science can go with its logic. Science attributes creation to a singularity from which occurred the Big Bang from which the universe and all of its galaxies, earth, flora, fauna, and man evolved.

The problem is that a singularity, a point in space smaller than a subatomic particle, must contain all the matter and energy of the universe. However, a singularity is a creation, the single greatest creation of the universe; therefore, law must precede a singularity.  The Law of Creation demands it because the principle of causality (so well defined by science) demands it.  A singularity is a state of the universe at a specific time and the principle of causality requires that

“There must be a complete set of laws that, given the state of the universe at a specific time, would specify how the universe would develop from that time forward.”
