Season 5 Podcast 146, A New Voice of Freedom, Argument for the Existence of God, “Spontaneous Creation Part Three.” 

Just as forests fall from fire and new birth bursts forth from seeds released by the heat, heat death comes to the celestial forests of planets, stars, suns and galaxies and new stars are born.  Astronomers today claim that every galaxy has a black hole that sucks in suns, moons, stars, planets, and dark matter and spews out new suns, new stars, new planets which form new galaxies and new earths to support new life.  That suggests that the scientific view of the GIANT heat death, referring to the death of all galaxies and all laws and all life, is false.  Law will never die, and out of the fiery furnace of exploding stars, black holes, and colliding galaxies come forth new galaxies, new stars, new suns, new planets, new moons, and new systems.  There will always be mortal worlds and mortal lives, but, even as they come and go, we, being immortal, will move on in our eternal progression just as other new worlds will have to move on in theirs.  Mortal matter is manageable by mortal law, but life is eternal and governed only by eternal law.  

Just as there is a conservation of energy, there is a conservation of life.  Intelligence and consciousness cannot be created or destroyed, but they can be expanded and perfected through law. Law and light cannot be separated.  Law is the light of Christ that fills the cosmos.  Law is the power of Christ.  Law governs everything.  If law did not exist, there would be no life. Law is the key to freedom. Will self-exists because intelligence and consciousness self-exist; however, freewill, which is a potential rather than a guarantee, must be released by law or it will remain forever bound.  Eternal progression is just that—eternal!  Without freewill, eternal progression would mean nothing.  Freewill has infinite potential.  Eternal progression helps us to expand into that potential.  God is the only truly free person in the cosmos.  The purpose of all the laws of 
 God is to help us become like him else existence makes no sense. Anything less than becoming Gods diminishes both God and man. Why would God, who is omniscient and omnipotent, want anything less than omniscience and omnipotence for his children. We have the model on earth. Just as our earthly parents want us to reach our full potential and become adults, our heavenly parents want us to reach our full potential and become Gods. Earthly parents are modeled after our heavenly parents. Earth mirrors heaven or eternity has no purpose. To live in eternity but be bound to finite laws would be a kind of eternal hell. It is so easy to forget that mortality is temporary, yet we have immortal spirits. The mortal body goes back to the dust, but the eternal spirit lives forever. That is why the resurrection brought about by the atonement of Christ is so important. The resurrection gives us an immortal body to match our immortal spirits. We came to earth to gain a physical body and to prove ourselves worthy to return to the presence of our Father in Heaven, else life on earth has no meaning.

It is God who allows us to reach our potential through law.  It is God who organized the laws. God is the ultimate model, and all laws are engineered to help us become like him.  That is the purpose of the commandments. However, He will never violate our agency.  We must choose to remain free.  

We are now engaged in just such a journey, and mortality is part of that eternal process and should be taken very seriously. We did not put our eternal progression on hold while we vacation on earth.  Earth is not a resort where we eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die.
